I’m running for Columbia County Commissioner to keep our county safe, strengthen our local economy, and make government work for the people — not against them.

For more than two decades, Jerry Cole has served the people of Rainier with dedication,

integrity, and common-sense leadership. As Mayor of Rainier for 23 years, Jerry has guided

the city through growth, revitalization, and challenges—always putting the community first.

A lifelong Oregonian and career firefighter, Jerry believes that public service means

rolling up your sleeves and getting the job done. Under his leadership, Rainier has seen improvements in public safety, economic development, and local infrastructure—driven by collaboration and fiscal responsibility, not politics.

Now, as a candidate for Columbia County Commissioner, Jerry is ready to bring that same hands-on leadership to the county level.

His priorities are clear:

Economic Development – Supporting small businesses, creating family-wage jobs, and strengthening the local economy.
Public Safety – Ensuring our first responders have the tools and staffing they need to keep communities safe.
Common Sense Leadership – Making practical decisions that reflect the values and needs of the people, not outside interests.

Jerry and Kristi have been married for 32 years, and together they’ve raised two daughters who share their love for community and service.

Jerry was born in St. Helens, grew up in Goble and his family actually homesteaded in Shiloh Basin. Kristi grew up in Vernonia and has family roots in Mist and Clatskanie.

He’s known for his approachable style, steady leadership, and deep roots in Columbia County.

Transparency & Accountability: Advocate for open communication, regular town halls, and clear reporting to ensure citizens have a voice in county decisions.

Advocate for improved access to healthcare services, especially in rural communities, such as increasing support for local clinics or telemedicine programs.

Advocate for funding resources for county roads and assure we get the most out of the money budgeted.
Evaluate what roads need to be fix through public input, safety concerns and traffic volume.
Support the improvement and expansion of Electrical Power for Columbia County future business development.

Education & Workforce Development

Infrastructure & Transportation Improvement

Championing improved student success rates and ensure students receive a high-quality education.
Support the continued Creation of Vocational Training programs to help residents gain practical job skills, particularly in industries like manufacturing, technology, and energy.
